Why You Need It

The benefits of organic coconut oil for the hair are almost endless!  As one of the most nutritious products you can put on your hair, it penetrates deep into the hair cuticle and hair follicle to provide the essential proteins that nourishes damaged hair and maintains healthy hair. It is excellent at sealing in moisture and one of the BEST you'll find for helping to relieve a slew of hair problems.

So whether your hair is wavy, curly, or straight, you can use it in your hair care regimen. You can even try a weekly coconut oil hair mask by whipping it together with some honey or mashed avocado to deeply hydrate and condition your mane.

Here are a few more reasons why you need this oil:

Coconut Oil and Hair Health
  • Treats Dandruff—The medium-chain fatty acids (a good type of saturated fat) in coconut oil can help minimize those itchy, white flakes; massage a small amount onto your scalp and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing hair.
  • Conditions Strands—If your locks are thirsty for moisture, coconut oil is able to hydrate hair by deeply penetrating the shaft. You can even use it as a leave-in treatment by combing a small dollop into your hair at night; cover your pillow with a towel to protect your pillowcase.
  • Prevents Hair Damage—Because of its ability to lock in moisture, coconut oil prevents breakage; its lauric acid also reduces protein loss, which can lead to dull, brittle strands, as well as thinning and hair loss.
  • Tames Frizz—Just a small drop of coconut oil is all you need to help control frizzy locks. Rub it between your fingers and apply it to your strands, especially the ends, for a smooth, soft and shiny appearance.

How to Use

For damaged hair, coconut oil can be used as a deep conditioning mask. Heat the coconut oil for a few seconds, then gently work it though the hair and massage into the scalp. Coat hair with the warmed oil, using a wide-tooth comb to gently distribute the oil through the strands evenly, always starting from the ends and working your way up. Cover the hair with a shower cap, and sleep overnight, allowing the oil to soak into the hair. For those in a hurry, use a hair dryer on the mixture or wrap your hair in a warm towel as the heat helps the oil better penetrate the hair. Shampoo thoroughly and you may skip conditioner, and admire the healthy look of your curls!

Coconut oil is one of the best products for curly hair and especially useful for those with dry tight curls. Work a tablespoon of oil through wet hair, and style as usual. The oil helps soften the curls and retain moisture, resulting in beautiful, shining ringlets.

What's Inside

Coconut oil has a long list of great qualities to its credit – it’s an antioxidant, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antiviral, and is rich in fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the scalp and hair. Coconut oil has also been known to soothe cradle cap, an issue commonly seen in babies. Its antibacterial properties may ward off folliculitis, an infection of the hair follicles, and may also fight fungal infections, such as ringworm of the scalp. You can easily replace expensive, deep-conditioning salon treatments by using this great smelling oil as a hair conditioner at home.
